    Washing functional outerwear garments the right way ensures they last a long time. Here are some useful tips to keep in mind. Washing Make sure you close all buttons, zips, buckles and Velcro© fastenings to avoid unnecessary friction on the different parts of the garment and the outer fabric. Wash the garment inside out to reduce wear and tear on the outer fabric. Wash the garment with similarly colored items. Always check the garment label and follow its washing direction and washing temperature instructions. Never use fabric softener as it may cause the garment to lose its water-repellent ability.
