    Washing functional outerwear garments the right way ensures they last a long time. Here are some useful tips to keep in mind. Washing Make sure you close all buttons, zips, buckles and Velcro© fastenings to avoid unnecessary friction on the different parts of the garment and the outer fabric. Wash the garment inside out to reduce wear and tear on the outer fabric. Wash the garment with similarly colored items. Always check the garment label and follow its washing direction and washing temperature instructions. Never use fabric softener as it may cause the garment to lose its water-repellent ability.   2. PFC-Free Outerwear

    OUR GARMENTS ARE COMPLETELY FREE OF PERFLUORINATED SUBSTANCES All Polarn O. Pyret’s outerwear with water repellent abilities are completely free of sealers containing perfluorinated compounds, known as PFCs. The outer garments are treated with a PFC-free substance to maintain the same water repellent function. We have been using this material for our outerwear since 2015. PFCs, or perfluorinated substances are commonly used in waterproofing that allows textile surfaces, dirt and water repellent. We have now decided to phase out these substances entirely when they have a negative impact on the environment and the working conditions. Today, we use a material not only meets our chemical requirements but also our quality and functional requirements. Polarn O. Pyret is constantly working to update its chemicals restrictions!

  4. HOW OUR CLOTHING IS MADE

    How is a piece of clothing actually created? What is the process beforehand? Designer Susan has the answers to these questions as well as a few more! Everything begins with a discussion regarding which print the garment is to have. Our print designers then draw it. Together the designers consider different color schemes and then decide which ones will be on the prints for the garments. When this has been done, an original is sent to the supplier for a print trial on fabric. Testing is the next step. The supplier sends garments in accordance with the instructions on the garment sketch and measurement list, and we test them at the head office.
