The PO.P Collection “Prints”, is our second collection for Spring/Summer 2017, and its fun motifs and bright colors are guaranteed to make it fly off the shelves. We spoke to Anna-Karin Malmsten, our print designer at PO.P, who explained how the Prints Collection was created.

“The work of gathering inspiration for the collection began in mid-February 2016. But it was only after our inspirational trip to London in early March that the work of designing the actual prints took off,” explains Anna-Karin.

What’s the inspiration behind the collection?
“For SS2 we had the working title “culture village”, a place where different cultures meet. We were inspired by exotic fruits and animals, and the collision between warm earth tones and strong colors, combined with ethnic prints. African prints, mix-and-match prints, and animal motifs were trends that inspired us. A new feature for this collection is that we’ve worked a lot with lines and structures in a new way, such as small background prints.”

“Being aware of what’s going on in the world around us is an important aspect in our work, hence our inspirational trip. We’ve also studied traditional ethnic/African prints and worked on adapting them for our purposes. Then there’s always teamwork between us and the clothing designers to develop prints that suit each individual garment.”

Which prints from the collection do you predict will be best sellers?
“I believe in my personal favorites are, the peacock print and the prints on the t-shirts with safari cars and animals, a theme that feels like a slightly new departure for us. And obviously the ones featuring vehicles, which always sell really well,” adds Anna-Karin.
