    In honoring our diversity and all people’s equality of dignity and rights, we encouraged everyone to wear non-matching socks on March 21st – to celebrate our differences! World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), observed on 21 March every year, is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. The date for WDSD being the 21st day of the 3rd month, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. Rock your Socks is an American initiative that the Swedish National Down Syndrome Association adopted when in 2015 ten-year-old Nathea went on Facebook to ask people to mark the day by wearing non-matching socks to school or work.
