WHAT ARE THE IMPORTANT POINTS TO CONSIDER WHEN YOU BUY KIDS SHOES? It’s not always easy to choose the right kids shoes. We’ve collected our best tips to help you find the right shoe for the right foot. WHAT’S THE BEST WAY FOR YOU TO MEASURE A CHILD’S FEET? The easiest way to measure a child’s foot is to lay a sheet of paper on the floor against a wall and place the child’s foot on the paper with their heel against the wall. Draw a line in front of their longest toe – then measure the distance with a ruler. Make sure your child is standing upright when you measure, as their body weight will press their foot outwards a few millimeters. Measure both …

Polarn O. Pyret supports more sustainably produced cotton As we buy large quantities of cotton and consider our corporate responsibility extends beyond our production, we became a member of BCI in September 2013. The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) was established in 2005 to help make global cotton production more sustainable. By labeling and promoting “Better Cotton” as a sustainable commodity, the BCI helps make global cotton production better for producers, for the environment where cotton is grown and for the future of the sector/cotton industry. Each year, Polarn O. Pyret aims to increase the amount of Better Cotton we source to contribute to the more sustainable production of cotton. By buying Better Cotton, Polarn O. Pyret helps BCI minimize the damaging effects associated with traditional …

Keep an eye out for the symbol that shows the way to an environmentally conscious choice – ECO! Polarn O. Pyret places high demands on all our products, but the environment is in particular focus for products with the ECO symbol – we reduce environmental impact by selecting materials consisting of organic cotton or recycled synthetic fibers. Organic cotton means that the fiber is cultivated without the use of chemicals such as synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. This is good for the environment and for the people working with the plants! Recycled synthetic fibers (polyester and polyamide) allow us to reduce usage of new fibers that derive from non-renewable sources (petroleum) and to save the energy required for extraction. Some of our ECO-labelled products are also …

  10. Inside Story

    0

    October 1, 2015 by Polarn O. Pyret

What Makes Our Windfleece Jacket so Special? We get the inside story from our designer Susan Pang. The wind fleece jacket is one of our most popular garments we make and specifically design to be comfortable for a child to wear. The fact that it’s windproof makes it ideal as either a warm middle layer or as a jacket in its own right in milder weather. It’s essentially a 2-in-1 jacket that can be used all year round. It’s just as perfect on a windy autumn day as it is on a cool summer evening. The wind fleece fabric consists of three different layers and materials: the outer fleece, a windproof and waterproof layer underneath, and a soft, brushed jersey fabric on the inside. We’ve …
