semlorFat Tuesday means gorging on beignets and King Cake in New Orleans. But, for Swedes, Fettisdagen is all about the “semla” — a sweet, cardamom-spiced bun stuffed with a blend of whipped cream and almond paste.

ballantyneA little inspiration for the winter weather from North Caroline Magazine Ballantyne. A huge thanks to Melissa from Pink Pistachio for including us in her styling project. We think these kids make winter play look easy. There’s still time to save on our fantastic outerwear.

When you think Polarn O. Pyret, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Stripey pjs, socks and hats, perhaps?

cerealLike much of the country, we have been having our share of bizarre weather in Chicago. It went from 65 degrees and raining to 15 with below freezing wind chills all in the span of two days. Our day off school this week happened to fall on one of the coldest days of the month, so we had to get creative with how to make it outside. In general, it does not take much to get my kids outside. I am lucky in that respect. But with the frigid temperatures, I knew our time outside would be short and sweet.
