  2. Our Initiative for Sustainable Production

    March 4, 2016 by Polarn O. Pyret

Polarn O. Pyret supports more sustainably produced cotton As we buy large quantities of cotton and consider our corporate responsibility extends beyond our production, we became a member of BCI in September 2013. The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) was established in 2005 to help make global cotton production more sustainable. By labeling and promoting “Better Cotton” as a sustainable commodity, the BCI helps make global cotton production better for producers, for the environment where cotton is grown and for the future of the sector/cotton industry. Each year, Polarn O. Pyret aims to increase the amount of Better Cotton we source to contribute to the more sustainable production of cotton. By buying Better Cotton, Polarn O. 3. Oyster Shells Are Eco Friendly!

    September 25, 2015 by Polarn O. Pyret

Is it possible to make plastic bags from oyster shells? Yes, it is possible – at least partially. After a great deal of searching, Swedish and Canadian researchers have found a way to make granular powder from oyster shells. By blending 25% granular powder from oysters with 75% recycled plastic, a plastic mixture called Trio Biomarine is produced. Oysters are fantastic animals that positively affect water quality since they ventilate and clean the water. The oyster shells used to make the plastic bags are a residual product from the food industry. The shells are washed and crushed at very high temperatures to clean them completely. The shells are then turned into granular powder and finally plastic. Polarn O. Pyret will now gradually start using Trio …

  5. One on One

    November 3, 2014 by Polarn O. Pyret

We at Polarn O. Pyret are very proud to have Melissa working in our store in Edina, MN as an assistant manager. She is a great addition to our team and has lent a very thoughtful perspective to our team about relating to kids with special needs — and their families. Shopping with kids who do have special needs can be stressful for families and PO.P wants to make shopping in our stores a happy and pleasant experience for all. Melissa brought us a wonderful proposal for how to make this happen — we are happy to be launching our One on One Shopping Program for Families with Special Needs primarily due to her initiative. Read a little more about Melissa’s story in her blog …

  6. From One Kid to Another

    July 22, 2014 by Polarn O. Pyret

Clothes that can take hundreds of hours of play bring joy to many. Children grow – that’s a fact – but clothes that last are never too small. Not as long as they fit someone smaller. In all the wear and tear of everyday life, clothes that last are something we all benefit from. Hand-me-downs also benefit our Earth. Which is why Polarn O. Pyret has invented an amazing machine that we have installed in our stores. If you put one or more outgrown items in the portal, some other kid will get good use out of them. As a thank you for your help, we will give you a money-off coupon worth $15 Off your next purchase over $70. All donations will be channeled …

    March 1, 2013 by PO.P Press

So, what is it about Polarn O Pyret that gets me excited enough to plan my day around various sample sales? That’s easy. It’s ALL about the clothes. Not the pure existence of them, no. It’s much more than that. These clothes have personality.
